How do I import a DXF file into iPOGO command format?

Note: iPOGO supports Version 12 DXF files only. You must create the dxf with ONLY the linework you actually want to import into iPOGO. Do not attempt to import DXF files containing hatches, solids, dimensions, construction rays, sheet borders, views and other objects inappropriate for surveying computations. iPOGO will only recognize lines, arcs, circles, polylines and inserts (blocks) while ignoring text objects. Other types of entities may give unexpected results.

To import a Version 12 DXF file, you must not be in a command file. Select the File, Import DXF File menu option to start the import process. iPOGO will automatically create a new file to contain the imported data.

You will be prompted for the number of decimal places to check for weeding out duplicate points. Next, select the file that you wish to import.

iPOGO will scan the DXF file for duplicate points as it reads the entities mentioned above. Numbers are added automatically in sequence as entities are read from the file.

Upon completion, all coordinates will be entered as 0 commands for 2D points and 0.1 commands for 3D points. Radius points that require computation are set up as 1.1 commands for plus and offset from the curve's chord. These radius points may be duplicated since they are not computed prior to runtime. The lines and arcs will be drawn as single entities and polylines will be drawn as complex linestrings using the 7 command. Closed areas will be closed in iPOGO if the last point is equivalent to the first point. An alpha label will be constructed to advise the user of the source layer of the original entity.

The user will need to enter his own 15.1 and 15 commands to define appropriate features in this release of iPOGO. Future versions will automatically create the features and assign 15 commands to each line imported.
    (applies to iPOGO, 5.0, 06/30/2001)
