OVERVIEW

What are the advantages of batch file processing?

Batch file processing is an extremely efficient way of performing and documenting huge amounts of land surveying computations. Most of the other surveying software packages today do not provide an effective way, if any, to document the crucial decisions that are made each day by the land surveyor. In iPOGO, the surveyor can see exactly how the computations were performed in an old project and the user can add an unlimited number of comments directly in the batch file that explains step by step what was done to compute and resolve the boundary or other survey.

With true batch file processing, a surveyor can easily perform a multitude of what-if boundary analysis comparisons in the same batch file until satisfied with the final results. iPOGO's computing engine was designed specifically to process the batch file commands in the order in which they occur in the file and to allow interactive addition of new batch file commands through the Graphic User Interface.

Likewise, if a project parameter has changed, such as a right of way width, the user can simply modify the one or two commands where the parameter is defined, and all subsequent computations will adjust accordingly on the next batch file process. This means that changing a right of way width from 50 to 52 feet becomes a relatively simple and quick procedure, as opposed to the process necessary to modify a CAD based system to reflect the new right of way.
